:: will the two lines appear again? ::

afiq and adib has fall asleep. so i've got some ample time to blog tonight.

at the moment, around me, i'm surrounded by many expecting mothers (read : beautiful preggy women). i'm happy for them surely, but deep in my heart, there's something tickling me, making feel very uncomfortable. i can see the eagerness and excitement in their faces, and i know they're just like me before.

whenever i see the pics of newborn baby of my friends, it'll remind me the day we lost late amin. at times, i feel deja-vu. terasa dan teringat zaman mengandungkan arwah amin. like today, when i was having laksa for lunch. that was how it triggered me that i could've been pregnant a year ago.

yep, i'm not 100% over the loss yet, i guess. i've been praying, so do my OH, to Allah to give a better replacement than late amin. i knew he weeped the other night, 'teringatkan' arwah. but the beauty is, i didn't shed a tear. perhaps, Allah dah jadikan kami berdua untuk saling bergantungan antara satu sama lain.

i don't deny, that i'm afraid to be pregnant again. but at the same time, i want to get pregnant, and should i get pregnant again, this time round, i'm gonna make sure, i'll make double check up, just like what i did with the twin. call me paranoid, but at least i do something extra, not leaving behind any trail of 'what if?'

but like the cliche phrase says, 'life is a journey'. you'll definitely encounter bumpy roads, sharp bends, sweet smelling flowers, scenic mountain and thick bushes along the way. i've been through a lot in fertility related matters, and i know should be more than grateful, despite losing amin, i've been granted with adorable twin boys. life is far more meaningful with the presence of the boys. i still remember how empty and incapable i felt before having them.

in my life, i've encountered numerous kind of people. i believe so do u. there're gems, but there're germs as well. the gems, have helped me waded through the high tide and wave when i was about to suffocate, while the germs, not worth mentioning. there're times that i feel the hurt is intended, but some are just because of me -the plain jane herself being over sensitive.

over and over again, i hope and really, really hope the event of two lines appearing will come and visit me again. and yes - that's HPT test for those who kinda blank. (HPT - home pregnancy test)

:: sharing my journey towards conception with the twins ::

i'm trying to blog with afiq on my lap. he decline to have his morning nap, while adib has already starts his dream (read ~ sleep) (i finally put afiq down, as i keep on 'haip!' every other letter i type. haha!)

what to tell? what to share?

one of my blog reader requested me to email her my share of story ~ my journey towards conception and having my own kids. i believe i actually had one entry before, but i can't remember when. so tak pe la, since i pernah cakap to my hubby, i'd love to share my story with anyone, and lend a helping hand and advises to lift spirit up.

it all started after a year and half of marriage, after returning from my master's degree. my mom went bising to me, asking me to have check ups bla bla since i haven't conceive yet. so after much persuassion, i went to my GP to get referral letter (since hubby's company cover untuk infertility investigation.) but the answer was then, 'u baru jek kawen. there's nothing to worry about.'

but then, i can't remember when, i pursuade jugak dr tuh utk kasi referral letter. and i had my first examination kat satu private hospital with a lady gynae. so masa tuh, dia discover i ada endometriosis.

at that time, i didn't do much reading/research on my own penyakit that i endured. i ended up depending on the dr's advise solely. she advised me to perform IUI - a form of conception procedure - less expensive than IVF without having my problem treated. i did that twice. and yeah, none was successful.

i feel at that time, i can't go on with this gynae. i went to another gynae - so called FAMOUS one. he said, i need to go through laparatomy (open cut) to remove the cyst. before i decided to go through that, i asked for second opinion from a dr yang amalkan perubatan alternatif tapi moden & islamic. he suggested the same thing. he said if i tak perform this operation, i might lose my rahim totally. so i have no choice, i went through the laparatomy - painful okay!

6 months later, i dtg buat check up lagi sekali, he ended up telling me i still had my cyst. what the heck?? aku dah go through sucha painful procedure and he's telling me that? again? i dah mula hilang percaya kat ini dr. i decided i wanted another opinion from another gynae. so this time i went damansara fertility centre in uptown damansara (now TMC kat kota damansara).

yes, dr kata i ada lagi that cyst, and masa tuh stage 4. stage 4 - severe. he suggested that i performed keyhole surgery - less painful + fast recovery. he said, he can't comment on what the previous dr has done. so i buat la jugak this keyhole surgery. memang cepat baik - 1 week i dah masuk opis balik.

kat klinik nih la, i finally decided to go through IVF. first attempt unsuccesful. dia kata my ovum was very poor, that it didn't reflect my age at all. 2 months after the first IVF, i made another attempt with maximum dose ubat segala. alhamdulillah, that one - FRUITFUL. i manage to conceive a pair of twin boys.

but one thing to share on IVF thingy - it ain't as easy as we thought it could be. hari² kena inject perut for 1 - 1.5 months - (sendiri buat. but in my case, my hubby was my dr and my nurse) bukan satu injection, tapi 2-3 depending on time and jenis ubat yang kena amik. that injection kena amik pagi, at the same time every day. mmg menduga kesabaran sesangat. my perut went lebam² because of the injections.

pregnancy pun agak teruk. morning sickness (why do they call it morning sickness when i get it 24-7?) during the first trimester. bleeding, threatened abortion, bleeding masa first trimester, bed rest for the first three months.. name it. i had it all. tapi demi nak kan anak, i sabarkan hati and waded through. i mean after all efforts, i definitely hope it'll be safe and smooth.

32 weeks later, i gave birth to beautiful, adorable twin on 17 august 2007 on my mother's 53rd birthday, and on my bro in law's wedding day. beautiful and bless - perhaps that's the best way to express how i feel.

8 months later - i was surprised by the two lines, again.. :D that one - DIY punya baby. dr cakap - infertility nih susah sgt nak diexplain. but that pregnancy was the chosen one. anak yang dikandung dipanggil Ilahi hours short befor his so called birthday.

itulah journey aku serba sket. macamana aku dan hubby diduga.

but supports from family and friends sangat² membantu. i remember one beautiful advise from my old buddy from school. in short kata dia cam gini. <
we have to do all that we can do. so that, if u're destined not to have any child, u won't regret not doing things that u can do. u can walk, and put your head high, saying 'i've tried my best'
that keeps me moving and never give up hope. so, all in all, it took me more or less a year and a half of in and out hospital, befor afiq and adib finally arrived in my arms.

hope this could give some insight to those battling with infertility. to others, don't make life harder for them, for infertility itself is hard enough. janganlah dibebankan kawan² u all yang striving for babies dengan kata² yang sangat² menyakitkan. trust me, i've gone through that, and at times, they come from ridiculous persons.

in short, find supportive friends. read and research. do what u should and can do. most of all, never forget to pray. (bagi yang muslim, cubalah amalkan 2 ayat terakhir dari surah at-taubah sebagai pengiring doa)

hang in there yeah! knowing u're not alone is IMPORTANT.

:: infertility - part one ::

i've tried to surf the net to find the meaning of infertility.. and i have fpund some good, clear definition which i think worth sharing.. this is from wikipedia..

infertility..

Reproductive endocrinologists, the dr specializing in infertility, consider a couple to be infertile if:

  • the couple has not conceived after 12 months of contraceptive-free intercouse, if the female is under the age of 34

  • the couple has not conceived after 6 months of contraceptive-free intercourse, if the female is over the age of 35

  • the female is incapable of carrying a pregnancy to term

  • difficulty conceiving after already having conceived and carried a normal pregnancy

so, in my case - i sit in category #1..

so after much deliberation, i went to see the dr to figure out why and what's the problem.. and to my astonichment the GP brushed me off! she said, it's ok.. u baru jek kawen.. don't worry.. but as time passed by, i think for like 2 months or so, i can't wait anymore.. i insisted for a referral to a specialist.. and, that is when, all the ordeal began..

i first went to a LADY gynae - in a private hospital.. she diagnosed me with endometriosis.. she suggested me to go through IUI procedure.. and being desperate for child, i went thru the cycle twice, before i called it for a stop.. the dr didn't treat my endometriosis.. i got fed up and moved on to a so called famous gynae to seek for the best treatment.. i ended up on an OT table for laparatomy with huge scar - as big as c-sect punya scar, and on leave for a month.. just to know that my endo is still there.. being aggressive this time, i don't agree with my dr at all, i started to seek treatment at a fertility specialist centre - TMC or formerly known as damansara fertility centre..

alhamdulillah, after a round of laparascopic, and twice IVF procedure, i'm blessed with a set of twin boys, now aged 9 months old.. IVF is not as easy as it sounds.. i'll share with you the experience in my next entries, insya Allah..

lesson learned :-

if u're married for more than a year and has no sign of conceiving despite being contraceptive-free, seek for profesional advise.. and do land at the right clinic.. ask every single question that u believe u need to know, and if the dr can't give u the answer, go n get the answer elsewhere.. don't wait for things to become so late, that is not treatable.. don't give up hope, and if u're the spouse - lend him/her the support..don't let him/her be drowned away with the problem.. and if u're a friend/family member, lift the spirit up, and lend him/her the strength to go through the dark phase..

guess that's all for now.. take care all.. hope this will benefit few..

ps : infertility tak semestinya problem pompuan jek.. it might be a man's problem or a combination of both.. ok?

:: infertility ::

afiq and adib dah tido well in their cots.. so, mommy has decided to claim her personal time to blog.. :D

weekends are full.. plenty of invitations (weddings, engagement) till mid of june.. erk.. tak pe la.. membina masjid..

i actually have been contemplating to share some personal experiences on infertility with all.. as i know, there are plenty of malaysian women out there ae facing this problem, be it first degree infertility or secondary infertility.. i'm neither a fertility specialist, nor a gynaechologist.. i'm simply a lady who was diagnosed with endometriosis and alhamdulillah, have successfully overcome the infertility problem.. i'm not a rich person like Tunku Azizah (TAFF founder).. but i would like to do my part, to lend hand and ears, as well as crying shoulders to those who are in the league..

i'll try to find time to write about it.. as infertility in complex.. so i' d prefer to put it light and easy, so that it is easily understood..

take good care readers.. bubbye!
