Preparing homemade baby's food for busy mom

Arfa is 9 month young. Alhamdulillah, selera makan dia sangat bagus. Mula-mula je dulu, agak liat nak makan sayur, tapi sekarang, asal sua, semua habis. 

Sejak makin ramai anak, ilmu parenting juga bertambah. Kadang-kadang timbul rasa kesal, apasal la aku tak belajar this and that masa anak sulung.. But past is past. Pandang depan yang penting. So with Arfa, (and Aidin of course) food diorang memang homemade. Arfa lagi untung sebab breakfast pun homemade, sebab mommy dah reti.

So weekly, I'll spend about an hour to prepare her meals for a week. (I can't afford to cook daily) Masak 3-4 jenis and masukkan dalam bekas kecik, freeze. My schedule would be, this week I'll cook lunch and dinner for Arfa for 2 weeks, and next week masak breakfast untuk Arfa fore 2 weeks. I find it easier and manageable. 

So what do I cook for her.. Typically, it would be fruity combo for breakfast, and savoury dish for lunch and dinner. 

Her typical breakfast would be:-

Rice cereal + milk + fruits (apples, bananas, strawberry, blueberry, kiwi, dates, raisins, melon). The fruits can either be one fruit alone or combo. Kalau nak bagi ada variety, choose 2 fruits that complement each other, say, banana and strawberry. Pastu masak according to this combo:-

1. rice cereal + banana
2. rice cereal + strawberry
3. rice cereal + banana+ strawberry

 Rice cereal + apple + milk

Rice + blueberry + milk

Rice cereal is damn easy to do. 
1. Beras yang kita dok guna hari2 tu, basuh bagi bersih + dry blend. (kalau tak nak blend pun takpe).
2. Masukkan beras + enough liquid dalam periuk. Masak macam masak bubur.
3. Once nasi dah masak/almost masak, masukkan fruits and stir well. Tengok agak-agak dah ok, transfer masuk food processor, add milk and mash till achieve desired consistency.
4. Masukkan dalam bekas kecik2 and freeze.

Kalau savoury dishes tuh, I buat macam nih:-
1. carbohydrate + protein + vegetable

 Arfa's 2 weeks lunch and dinner stock. Nampak jek kaler sama, tapi ada 3 different set of food.
1. Potato, pumpkin, sweet peas and salmon
2. Potato, pumpkin, sweet peas, carrot, chicken and chinese parsley
3. Rice, broccoli, carrot and salmon

So the carbo will come from either rice, potato or pasta (haven't tried pasta on Arfa yet). Protein will come from fish, chicken or meat, Vege tu biasanya i combo kan 2-3 veges. Labu, carrot, bayam, sweet peas, green beans, zucchini, asparagus, cauliflower (arfa kureng sket yang ni). Kalau rasa macam anak tu susah nak makan sayur yang agak pahit tu, campurla sayur yang manis2 ngan pahit at fiest, and gradually reduce in next meal. 

So far, Arfa aka Icha aka Fafa akak Bisha love her food. Bila tengok tiap kali suap habis sebekas, hilang rasa penat masak untuk dia. Will spend roughly an hour in the kitchen nak masak semua nih. Normally. I'll get the maid to chop things up and I'll do the cooking and processing and packing. Dia tinggal simpan saje dalam peti ais. When meal time come, just reheat dalam microwave, and if the food is thicken up a bit, just dillute sket dengan air masak. That's how I manage her meals.
